holoVillage features job-based ability trees — a confirmed game system where weapons, spells, and upgraded gear are tied to abilities you unlock as you play. Smithing further customises equipment to fit your build.
What’s confirmed
From Game8 and Gematsu coverage:
- The game has ability trees linked to jobs.
- Equipment can be enhanced and customised through smithing.
- You make the most of different weapon types by combining them with ability-tree choices.
- Villagers in your roster can be assigned to one of 4 jobs: farming, fishing, adventuring, shopkeeping.
The 4 villager jobs
These are the assignable jobs in the village (not to be confused with the player’s combat ability trees):
- Farming — tends crops, pulls seeds from the workbox.
- Fishing — fishes at unlocked spots; needs a rod in the workbox.
- Adventuring — sent into dungeons to gather materials and fight monsters. Game8 specifically cites Hoshimachi Suisei being sent on adventuring runs.
- Shopkeeping — runs a shop counter once you unlock the relevant facility (the restaurant + smithy unlocks come after recruiting Chef Lunight).
Use the Villager Roster Planner to plan an 8-villager line-up and assign each to a job.
What we don’t have data on yet
- Exact ability-tree nodes per branch
- Skill point allocation per character level
- Best-in-slot ability recommendations per build
These details depend on community gameplay coverage and will be added as cited sources publish them. Earlier drafts of this guide invented specific ability names (e.g., “Green Thumb +10% yield”) that aren’t supported by cited sources — we’ve removed them.
